Angola : Some Opposition Parties Recognise Constitution

The opposition FNLA party Thursday in Luanda recognised the Constitution of the Republic of Angola approved in its entirety by the Constituent Assembly with 186 votes in favour, none against and two abstentions.

The recognition was expressed by the parliamentary bench leader, Ngola Kabangu, in his speech delivered at the ceremony which marked the approval of the key text.

“We hope the Constitution can consolidate the democracy and speed up the process of national reconciliation and the country’s reconstruction,” said the politician.

In his turn, the leader of the parliamentary group of opposition PRS party, Sapalo Antonio, considered that the ongoing political-constitutional course should be an opportunity for reflection by all Angolans, drawing political and social exemplar lessons.

While the parliamentary group leader of the New Democracy (ND) – Electoral Union, Quintino de Moreira, said the entire country has just won an important tool that will rule the life of the Angolan State in the political, economic, social and cultural areas.

The ceremony, also attended by the government officials and guests from different social sectors, was marked by the absence of UNITA MPs.
