Luanda, Angola – About 126 people died in 519 road accidents recorded in Luanda, the Angolan capital, since the beginning of the year, the Angolan News Agency (ANGOP) reported Wednesday, quoting the Police.
The figures marked a drop when compared to the figures in the corresponding period last year when 652 accidents occurred with 145 fatalities, according to the police.
The police attributed the reduction to a number of measures taken by the force to prevent actions that could lead to accidents.
Driving in a state of intoxication, over speeding, the lack of respect for traffic regulations, poor street lighting and carelessness on the part of pedestrians and drivers are the main causes of accidents in Angola, the Police added.
