Luanda — At least USD 3.7 million have been seized over several currency transgressions, in the past six months, at the “4 de Fevereiro” International Airport, said Tuesday, in Luanda, the commander of the Tax Police Unit, superintendent António Pedro.
During an exclusive interview to Angop, the Police official revealed that there had also been seized Euro 970,000, among other values in Rand and other currencies, that had already been sent to the Angola’s National Reserve, through the National Department of Customs.
These amounts of money were apprehended from passengers who were travelling with high volume of money, in a clear violation of the Exchange Law (Lei 5/97), that stipulates that undeclared USD 15,000, as the maximum value for each national or foreign passenger to take outside the country.
