Rail link re-established between Lobito and Benguela

A passenger and freight rail link has been re-established between Lobito and Benguela. The new 4 carriage long Chinese built trains carry 256 passengers. The cost of a ticket is 50 Kwanzas and there is a fine of 300 Kwanzas for those caught travelling without a ticket.

Initially there will be two trains daily, stopping at Catumbela, Negrão Damba-Maria and Universidade Jean Piaget stations.

The trains leave Benguela and Lobito stations at 0600 each day, arriving 65 minutes later. The return journey leaves each station at 1700.
